I think our winter season offers tremendous opportunities to be creative and hospitable ...
more about this later.
'Juliette' a Silver Lining Designs Christmas stocking made with embroidered red silk and raspberry/wine colored silk velvet went off to a new home yesterday. She had been residing at The Craft House on Granville Island and was selected by a lady as a gift for her daughter-in-law. Expect Juliette has found a happy home.
Progress has been made on my Christmas table decorations and the photographs look good. They will be downloaded soon.
The dark month of December building up to the shortest day of the year offers such opportunities for making the inside and outside of your home welcoming and festive. Just as people for hundreds if not thousands of years have used what nature has to offer we can as well. People brought evergreen boughs, holly, ivy and winter berries into their homes to reassure themselves that Spring and renewal would come again.
We have so much at out disposal now. We can choose a style which changes with our mood or perspective each year. We can be festive in a colorful or subdued manner, modern or traditional or whatever style we decide to create to keep the darkness of winter at bay.
I think our winter season offers tremendous opportunity to be creative and hospitable as one of my friends says - it is all good!
